The Gift of Music

I know I said I would wait until Sunday to post something, but I'll just go ahead and do it now. Last night I thought about what I could do for a project, and God gave me an idea that I hope will be carried through with. My idea is this: collect music from choirs around this area, state, etc. and send it to missionaries for any choir programs they might have for church services, or for schools. The main jobs would be finding choirs with extra music they don't want anymore, contacting missionaries, and getting the music over there. (Raising money for the shipping will probably be another job)
If any of you would be interested, feel free to contact me. This project isn't set in stone, I might think of something else to do. But I have a feeling this is the project that will happen, God willing.
 Merry Christmas,
 Charlotte

Chariots and Bridal Veils

And so, like I promised, the pictures of random leadership are up! Right now I'm working on these veils for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers in theater. I washed them and hung 'em up to dry, and soon I'll cut them a certain length and put elastic on them. They'll be used in the number 'June Bride', worn around the waist like a belt, and then at the end they'll take the belt off, and it will become a veil. (At least, that's the plan) Over Christmas 'break' I'll be working on the script for Cinderella (Rodgers and Hammerstein).

My room full of tulle...it was interesting trying to get to my alarm clock in the morning.

Another event that I led was getting Master's Academy Classical Club into the Waxhaw Christmas Parade. Getting a spot is easy, getting people together for the parade itself is the hard part. In the end I got a few other people besides myself and Grace to come. This means more publicity points for our school! We're a little competitive with publicity. That, and the pressure of beating this school that is obsessed with publicity is a lot on my shoulders. (I'm head of publicity) But anything is possible with God! So I shouldn't be worried at all. Just take it as it comes.
Our parade entry consisted of a chariot, 4 of us pulling it with togas on, and Eris' little brother riding. Another one of Eris' brothers held our sign in front.

Guess what? I just found out that the guidelines for the Gold have changed for the billionth time! *sigh*.... At least I didn't accomplish a whole lot with the leadership step. I can still earn the leadership award, it's just not a part of earning the Gold award. Weird, right? I thought they'd at least keep that in there. So now I'm back to square one, the slate is clean. I won't strangle the head of GS yet. Who is the head anyway?? The headquarters are in NY I think..must be some yankee. (I'm not looking down on anyone, just stating a fact. Don't be offended if you are one.)
Anyway, a new post is coming next Sunday, so stay tuned. Shalom.

The chariot!!

The sign I made which took about an hour or more. Not too shabby...

Step 1: Leadership Award

And so it begins! As you can see by the title, the first step (out of 6) is to earn the leadership award. This involves:
  • Earning 3 interest projects (fancy name for badge) related to Girl Scout Law
  • Setting goals and earning charms for the Studio 2B focus book of my choice (Studio 2B is this new sappy stuff involving 'getting to know yourself, etc.' aka unnecessary junk)
  • Logging 30 hours in a leadership role.
  • Keeping records and a journal in Go for It! The Girl Scout Gold Award insert.

Right now I'm focusing on the 30 leadership hours. Things I've done so far have involved being in charge for publicity of my classics club, making t-shirts for the said club, being secretary for honor society, and recently I've been put in charge of props for the play Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. I'll soon put up pictures of the random leadership I've been doing. I gotta say, whoever will be looking at my work at the Scout Council won't be bored.
